Welcome

We are the TECHNGI Project. It stands for Technology Driven Next Generation Insurance.

We are a cross-disciplinary research project investigating the opportunities and challenges for the UK insurance industry arising from the application of new AI technologies, including machine learning, distributed ledger, automated processing, and the explosion of available data.

Lead by Loughborough University, we bring multiple academic and industry partners together and are funded as part of the UK’s Next Generation Services Industrial Challenge.

Our goal is to connect academia with industry to maintain the UK Insurance sector’s leading position as the industry undergoes significant transformation. We aspire to resolve potential behavioural and socio-technical barriers in the ongoing adoption of AI technologies.

Our project is funded by Innovate UK and the Economic and Social Science Research Council (grant reference ES/S010416/1). It is part of the £20mn Next Generation Services Research Challenge (one of the twenty one research challenges supported by the UK government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund. We could not complete our research without the valuable support of all our partner organisations.
